Don't Miss This: Register NOW for "Designing Streets for Pedestrian Safety" Workshop

Space is still available in the upcoming "Designing Streets for Pedestrian Safety" workshops to be held September 11-12 in Detroit and September 13-14 in Troy. The two-day workshops are FREE and open to community leaders, safety professionals, engineers, planners, and walking advocates. The first day of the workshop will be a classroom seminar on planning, design, and engineering strategies. On day two, you'll go out to local roadways to observe and apply what you've learned.

Additional workshop background:

  • Based on Michigan's pedestrian crash experience, Federal Highway Administration has identified Michigan as one of 13 focus states to be offered technical assistance and training for improved pedestrian safety strategies.
  • Federal Highway Administration has hired the Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center (University of North Carolina) to organize and conduct these two-day trainings, utilizing a variety of experienced engineering and safety professional from across the country.
  • Workshops are offered as a "hands-on" professional training experience to assist community safety professionals to take practical steps in reducing Michigan's overall pedestrian crash experience.
