Dexter & Pinckney Coalitions to Reduce Underage Drinking (DPCRUD)

Through  bi-county needs assessment, the communities of Dexter and Pinckney were selected to lead the region in addressing underage drinking and alcohol-related traffic crash deaths.  This new process called the Strategic Prevention Framework is a grant implemented by the Livingston/Washtenaw Substance Abuse Coordinating Agency and Washtenaw County Public Health.  The SPF/SIG process brings together individuals, schools, prevention & treatment experts, law enforcement and businesses, youth and adults with a common goal: to reduce underage drinking by creating a healthy community environment with policies, practices, and attitudes that support the alcohol-free development of all youth. Together we will work to assess our community environments, prioritize actions and implement changes.

Washtenaw County Public Health staff supports the coalitions by:

  • Providing staffing to both coalitions
  • Assisting communities to identify research-based policy and environmental change strategies
  • Provide technical assistance for policy and environmental projects
  • Educate and train individuals and organizations about underage drinking and its impact on our community
