Public Health Nurses

Public Health Nurses (PHN's):

Washtenaw County Public Health Nurses (PHNs) are licensed Registered Nurses with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. They instruct/educate, oversee and offer a variety of public health nursing services including comprehensive home visitation services in the Maternal Infant Health Program, as well as Perinatal (pregnancy) Services, and Communicable Disease Services to families living in Washtenaw County.

PHN's promote the well-being of the community and seek to promote health and prevent disease, disability and premature death. PHNs strive to improve the quality of neighborhood life by working in partnership with community residents and partners to create the conditions that ensure healthy lifestyles. The PHN may focus on a specific geographical area or on a special needs population.
