Assistance in Smoking/Alcohol/Drug Cessation

Consuming alcohol and/or drugs during pregnancy can cause mental and physical birth defects and contribute to preterm labor and low birth weight. Smoking can decrease the likelihood of becoming pregnant. Pregnant smokers are more likely to have a low birth weight baby and go into preterm labor. An infant exposed to a smoke environment is more likely to experience upper respiratory infections, ear infections, and asthma. These infants are also at an increased risk for infant death.
