07/08 Projects
PMO projects fall into one of three categories:
- 1/8 Mil Projects, which are projects designed to
maintain and restore existing County buildings. Typical projects under
this scope include replacing worn carpet, updating fire
alarm systems and maintaining County-owned parking lots.
- Technology Projects: These projects are financed by
the Tech Fund and are divided into four categories:

- Systems Integration, which are
projects intended to enhance communication and encourage
collaboration between departments. Such projects include
GIS mapping of fire hydrants for local fire departments,
developing data reports for the Criminal Justice Collaborative Council
and implementing online timesheets for
County employees.
- Desktop Support, which offers support
and maintenance for the continued improvement of County
computers. This includes procuring and deploying approximately
300-400 new computers each year.
- Network Support, which are projects designed to
maintain and upgrade network infrastructure. Sample projects include
updating the County voicemail system, ensuring network and Internet
connectivity at all county facilities and deploying wireless technology
at select County locations.
- Application Support, which support upgrades and
enhancements to software applications used by the County to deliver
services. Such projects include updating computers with critical software
fixes and deploying new applications for departments.
- Capital Improvement Projects, which are major building
projects. Sample projects include the deployment of 800 MHz technology, the
installation of generators at County owned facilitites and
the expansion/renovation of the county jail.
Highlighted Projects
14A-1 District Court & Jail Renovation
The Eastern Service Center, which includes the 14A-1 District Court,
Sheriff's Office and Correctional Facility, is undergoing a $32 million
dollar renovation that will:
- Add 112 beds to the jail
- Improve security at the courthouse
- Enhance organizational efficiency
- Allow future capacity and upgrades

14A-4 District Court in Saline
The 14A District Court services all of Washtenaw
County with the exception of the City of Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti Township.
Per state mandate, the 14A Court was targetted for expansion in the Saline
community. A $2.5 million project is underway to build the courthouse,
designated 14A-4, within the City of Saline.
