EPA Community-wide Petroleum or Petroleum Product Assessment Grant
Community-wide Petroleum or Petroleum Product Assessment Grant
At the End of November 2004 Washtenaw County applied for a $200,000 Community–wide Petroleum or Petroleum Product Assessment Grant. The impetus for this application was the limitations encountered when using the current EPA Assessment Grant that ends in February. The current grant could not be used to conduct assessments of sites with suspected petroleum contamination, yet many of the nominated sites were former gas stations. This grant will be used to do further inventory and assessments in an effort to remove the barriers associated with the unknowns present when working with Brownfield sites contaminated with petroleum, and ultimately bring them to a competitive level with Greenfield sites.
