Solid Waste Services
- Pittsfield Charter Township has a contract with Allied Waste Services as their preferred hauler.
- Residents need to visit the Administration Building to sign up for their solid waste services. There is a fee for service, which is not included in township taxes.

- Additional Solid Waste Information
- Residents must furnish their own trash containers.
- The Township and Contractor will not be held responsible for damaged containers.
- Plastic bags and cardboard boxes may be used, but they must be capable of holding the contents.
- There is a 60 lb. weight limit on all items and/or containers placed at the curbside for pickup.
- Appliances and furniture can be picked up curbside. Please view the Solid Waste, Recycling, and Yard Waste Guide for information.
- Carpeting should be tied in bundles, weighing no more than 60 lbs. and no more than 4 ft. in length.
- Items Not picked up curbside:
- Stones
- Broken concrete
- Dirt
- Gravel
- Construction, remodeling, or demolition materials(linoleum, shingles, etc.)
- Automobile tires
- Items containing gas powered engines
- The contract with Allied Waste Services is extended to all detached residences, therefore does not include apartments, condos, and mobile homes. If you live in one of these types of residences you can contact your manager to find out who your waste hauler is, as often individual condo and apartment associations contract their own services.
- Special Services
- If you go on vacation for one month or more, you must notify the Township and ask for a vacation hold or you will continue to be billed.
- If you are unable to place your rubbish at the curbside for pick-up due to a physical challenge or advanced age, please contact the Township to arrange for assistance.
- Environment Day
- Pittsfield Charter Township sponsors an Environment Day in mid to late June each year where residents bring in items such as tires, computers, motor oil, antifreeze and much more. Please call the Utilities Customer Service Number at (734) 822-3106 for the specific date, time, and items accepted for drop-off.
- To End Township Curbside Service
- You must contact the Utilities Customer Service Number at (734) 822-3105 and have a "Final Rubbish Request Form" completed at least one week in advance.
Recycling Services
- Recycling is collected curbside once a week, on the same day as trash pickup by Allied Waste Services.
- Please view the second page of the Solid Waste, Recycling and Yard Waste Guide to learn what can be recycled and how to separate it for pickup.
- If you have not received a recycling bin at your curb within 2-3 weeks of move-in, call Allied Waste Services at 1-800-234-3311, unless there is a bin already at your home.
- One recycling bin per household is provided by Allied Waste Services. In the event of moving or cancellation of trash service the bin will remain at the residence. If the recycle bin is lost, stolen, or damaged there will be a charge to replace it.
- Pittsfield Charter Township residents are encouraged to use the Washtenaw County Drop-off Station to recycle other items not picked up curbside.
Yard Waste
- Yard Waste (grass, leaves, and twigs) is collected on the same day as trash and recycling pickup, between April 1st and November 30th of each year.
- Please view the second page of the Solid Waste, Recycling, and Yard Waste Guide to learn what constitutes as acceptable yard waste and how to package it for pickup.
- Tree trunks and limbs greater than 6 inches in diameter will not be picked up. Tree trunks less than 6 inches in diameter that are free from debris and do not exceed 60 lbs. may be placed at the curbside.
- Christmas Trees will be collected at the curbside the first two weeks of January.
