Solid Waste Services
- The City of Milan has a contract with Waste Management as its sole waste hauler.
- Contact 734-439-1780 or check online for information on curbside collection days, as well as holiday schedules.
Recycling Services
- Recycling is collected once a week by Waste Management on the same day as trash pick-up
- Contact 734-439-1780 or check online for information on curbside collection days, as well as holiday schedules.
- Pick up your recycle bin at the DPW office, 455 Squires Dr. or at City Hall, 147 Wabash Street. Your first bin is free!
- Acceptable materials
- Paper: newspaper, cardboard, magazines, office paper, phone books, boxboard
- Metals: Aluminum and tin cans
- Plastic: #1 PET plastic, #2 HDPE plastic, bottles only. Discard caps before recycling. No #1 or #2 tubs or plastics with #3-7.
- Glass: Clear, No colored glass.
- Large items, metal items, and appliances may be placed on the curb for pick-up on the first collection day of the month.
Yard Waste
- Yard waste is collected by Waste Management every Tuesday from April through November. Place your yard waste in kraft paper bags or in 32 gallon or smaller containers clearly marked as yard waste.
- Brush trimmings that are 4-inches in diameter or less can be placed on the curb for chipping on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month from April through the beginning of October.
- Loose-leaf pick-up occurs annually from mid-October to Thanksgiving. Call 734-439-1780 or check online for collection days.
- Put your Christmas tree out for curbside pick-up on your normal collection day during January and February.
- Burning leaves or brush is illegal in the City of Milan.
