Yard Waste
-
Leaf collection: The Village DPW (Department of Public Works) will begin leaf collection in the fall, usually during November. Rake leaves to the curbside, not into the street, and moisten to secure. Leaves that have twigs, brush or any other material mixed in will be left for the resident to clear.
-
The Village does not provide pick-up for yard wastes other than fall leaves. Residents may contract with Great Lakes individually for yard waste service by calling 800-589-9139.
-
Brush chipping is provided on the first Monday of the month, May through October. The routes are not constant and may be effected by weather and work loads.
-
Cut brush into 4 foot lengths. Nothing should be larger than 3 inches in diameter. Place brush near the curb, not in the street, with cut ends toward the street.
- Please pull brush piles to the street by 7AM of the 1st Monday of the summer months. We ask piles not be pulled to the curb until the weekend before the chipping date.
- Brush piles with other materials such as yard clippings, stones, etc. will not be fed into the chipper and will be left at curbside for the resident to clear. Please be considerate of the safety of the DPW crew.
- Wood chips are available for residents through the chipping season by calling 734-428-7877 to schedule pick-up.
- Burning leaves or brush is illegal in the Village of Manchester.
