The Division of Public Works (DPW), under PA 185, can help local communities address their public and environmental health issues by providing communities with the financial and technical assistance needed to construct sewage disposal and water supply infrastructure as well as establishing lake mangement projects.

Sylvan/Lyndon Sanitary Sewer
The Washtenaw County Board of Public Works has partnered with Sylvan Township and Lyndon Township on a $8 million project. The project will provide sanitary sewer services to areas around
Bridgewater Township
The Washtenaw County Board of Public Works and Bridgewater Township have partnered to construct a $1.6 million santary sewer and wastewater treatment plant in the hamlet area of the township. The work involves the construction of a 30,000 gpd Wastewater Treatment Plant and the installation of 12,800 lineal feet of 2" to 4" sewers. The project also consists of 55 grinder pump stations, service laterals and all other appropriate appurtenances.
Sylvan Township
Sylvan Township and the Division of Public have partnered to construct $12.5 million water supply and sewage collection project. The water supply component involves the construction of a water treatmen plant that utilizes reverse osmosis, an elevated storage tank, water mains and distribution appurtenances. The sewage collection component involves the construction of sewer mains, pump stations and the connection to the Leoni Township (Jackson County) Treatment Facility. This project has recently finished construction and is the project close-out and debt retirement stages.
Multi-Lakes Sewer Authority -- Phase II
The Multi Lake Sewer Authority has continued its partnership with the Division of Public Works to construct a $7.85 million sewage collection project (Phase II). The project addresses the public and environmental health concerns in the lakes area of Lyndon and Dexter Townships of Washtenaw County and Unadilla and Putnam Townships of Livingston County. The project involves the construction of a vacuum sewage collection system (AirVac), sewer mains, grinder pumps and other collection appurtenances.
Salem Township
Salem Township and the Division of Public Works have partnered to construct a $1.1 million project to expand sewer mains to area homes and businesses.
