Swine Influenza (Flu)
Human cases of swine influenza A (H1N1) virus infection have been identified
in the United States. Human cases of swine influenza A (H1N1) virus
infection also have been identified internationally. Investigations
are ongoing to determine the source of the infection and whether additional
people have been infected with swine influenza viruses.

Washtenaw County Medical Reserve Corps
The
Washtenaw County Medical Reserve Corps is dedicated to ensuring that
Washtenaw County residents enjoy the best possible access to preventative
care in emergency situations. This can be accomplished through partnerships
with the community to organize and train local public health, medical and
other volunteers to supplement existing emergency response

government and with several non-profit agencies to be ready in the event of
any serious impact on the health, safety and welfare of the community.

Washtenaw County's Outdoor Warning Siren System
The Emergency Management Division is responsible for the
activation of thirty-one designated outdoor warning sirens throughout
Washtenaw County. Except for scheduled testing,
these sirens will be activated when significant severe weather has been
detected (a tornado or a severe thunderstorm with damaging winds confirmed
to be in excess of 70 MPH); when a hazardous materials accident occurs that
requires immediate protective action by the public, or for other critical
