Sustainable Business Practices

Robert’s Paint & Body, Inc. believes strongly in reusing and recycling as much as they possibly can, and it shows in their business practices. The generate 5-6 tons of scrap metal each month, all of which is taken to a local recycling facility. Along with scrap metal, they also clean and recycle aluminum radiators, condensers, wheels, hoods, and aluminum scrap sheet metal. They also work hard to purchase recycled auto parts from reputable manufacturers. The paints used on their cars are also recycled, thinned and hauled away. They boast at having zero waste expense, just recycling expense! In the office, Robert’s Paint & Body uses double-sided printing, paperless invoicing, electronic documents and email. They also reuse envelopes, packing material, mugs, utensils, oil waste, and paper on a regular basis. They recycle white paper, cans, packing materials, computers, cardboards, plastic, and paint products. New employees are introduced to the waste reduction program at Robert’s Paint & Body, Inc. by an employee who is designated as the waste reduction overseer. Their bathrooms and break-rooms are equipped with automatic sensors to turn lights off when there is no movement in the rooms. Thermostats are turned down on weekends and weeknights, which also decreases energy use. Robert’s Paint & Body won the Washtenaw County Pollution Prevention Honorable Mention Award in 2002 for excellence in decreasing pollution in the workplace.
