foremost collector, reseller, and recycler of used cellular phones and
accessories. Since 1991, ReCellular has comprehensively committed itself to
ensure that, as many wireless handsets as possible are reused and recycled
properly to contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment. ReCellular
has long-standing strategic partnerships with industry carriers, retailers,
and OEMs to aid in the collection of retired cellular phones. Additionally,
ReCellular has well-established philanthropic partnerships which have helped
to generate millions of dollars fore several charitable organizations.
Collectively, these partnerships have supported ReCellular, Inc. to become a
global leader in collecting, reselling, and recycling used wireless phones
and accessories.
In the United States alone, 40,000 cellular phones are retired each day, attributing to a mountain of solid waste of 150 million cell phones a year! Therefore, cell phone collection and recycling is imperative. ReCellular has developed a global network dedicated to finding the most responsible solutions for the handset industry. In 2007, ReCellular collected over 4 million handsets, diverted more than 1 million pounds of waste from landfills, and is on track to collect over 6 million handsets in 2008! ReCellular’s mission is not only to be environmentally responsible but socially accountable as well. ReCellular pays organizations for each phone collected, with the proceeds benefiting more than one hundred non-profit partners nationwide. In 2007, ReCellular provided more than $4 million for its charitable partners. Additionally, ReCellular has implemented an Environmental Policy for its employees to follow which states that ReCellular will avoid unnecessary generation of waste to reduce and prevent pollution.
