Sustainable Business Practices

The Ann Arbor Area Chamber of Commerce’s vision is to be an organization that acts as a catalyst for positive change in order to help ensure the sustainability of the community. To this end, the Chamber models environmentally sound waste management practices. A variety of waste reduction techniques are employed, including double-sided printing, on-line registration for Chamber events and electronic copies of their newsletter, the Chamber Express. New Chamber members all receive reusable cloth bags with their membership materials and visitors to the Chamber receive their materials in a recycled content paper bag. Other recycled content products used by the Chamber include copier paper, file folders and brochure/flier paper. As members of both Sustainable Washtenaw and the Southeastern Michigan Sustainable Business Forum, the Ann Arbor Area Chamber of Commerce models its commitment to sustainability to its members. Alternative transportation has been address through their partnership in the Get!Downtown program, which encourages public transportation in the downtown Ann Arbor area.
