Parker Mill Grist Mill Tours
Description of Program:
Parker Mill grist mill is an operable grain mill built in 1873. The equipment in the mill is original, left after the Parker family ceased milling operations in 1958. A visit to this historic treasure provides an opportunity to learn about an integral aspect of rural life in the early days of European settlement in Washtenaw County.
Programs: Public grist mill tours are available during most Sundays in September and October. The tour demonstrates how grain was processed utilizing water powered equipment, from the grinding process to the finished product. There is no charge for these continuous tours. The Mill building is accessible to all persons. For further information on the tour dates and hours, please call (734) 971-6337.
Group grist mill tours are available by reservation to school, civic and community groups by scheduling with the park naturalist. Tours are available May - October by calling (734) 971-6337.
