Clearing Work at County Farm Park

The on-going tree and vegetation clearing work is associated with the MALLETTS CREEK STREAM RESTORATION PROJECT; being undertaken by the Office of the County Water Resources Commissioner and the City of Ann Arbor.

The cleared area will be graded to construct new water management features for the County Farm Drain.  To offset lost vegetation, native plant materials will be installed creating a wet-meadow environment for water quality treatment, along with establishing wildlife habitat areas (see the storyboard attachment for more information).  This newly created area will also compliment our ongoing restoration efforts at both Fox Hollow Prairie and Britton Woods across the interior park pathway.

The Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation Commission is very committed to its stewardship of County owned lands and extends that vision to include actions which benefit the Huron River Watershed.  The Commission welcomed the opportunity to partner with Water Resources Commissioner Janis Bobrin, the City of Ann Arbor, and Michigan Department of Environmental Quality in improving the water quality of Malletts Creek.

We appreciate your patience during construction and hope that you are able to enjoy this environmentally beneficial feature at County Farm Park once complete.

Questions about the project should be forwarded to Harry Sheehan with the Office of the Water Resources Commissioner at 734-222-6851 or email at
