Miller Preserves, and we’ll visit again in winter and spring to reassess the potential routes. Ideally, trail planning is a thorough and thoughtful process that involves visiting the site over several seasons to determine the areas to bring people to or through, areas to avoid/protect, the best views, etc. Rustic, natural-surface trails can then be established. Typically, the trails in our preserves are 4’ wide, less in woodland areas, and a bit wider if mown through areas of tall prairie grasses. Currently, there are established trails at the Brauer, DeVine, Kosch-Headwaters, and Leonard Preserves.
In other NAPP News, we’ve just updated our Parks website with loads of great information on all of the NAPP preserves, including maps and photos! Please visit us online at napp.ewashtenaw.org to check it out. This is a work in progress, so look for more photos and more information about the preserves over the coming months.
