Proposed Dog Park Information

The Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation Commission and the City of Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation Services are actively discussing collaborative development of an off-leash dog park at the southwest corner of Platt and Ellsworth Roads.

A dog park for the uninitiated can most simply be defined as dedicated area where dog owners can safely and legally exercise and socialize their dog off-leach.  City and County citizens in increasing numbers in recent years have expressed their desires to make such a facility available to the dog owning public.  The prospective area would be an adaptive reuse of a completed portion of the current landfill site formerly known as Swift Run Park, a site map in pdf format is available.

The desire is to have the facility operational later this calendar year subject to final respective agency and state regulatory approvals.  The proposed dog park would be the first such facility in the local community.
