Washtenaw County Parks offer a wide variety of educational programs for County residents. Programs range from nature hikes to historic mill tours—covering a wide variety of topics that will certainly pique your interest!

Monthly Program Offerings

Learn about the nature and history of Washtenaw County through a naturalist-led hike or program.  From summer butterflies to tracks in the snow, we offer programs that cover a variety of topics for all ages and ability levels.  Most, but not all, general public programs are free for Washtenaw County residents.  Join us to learn more about the beauty right in your backyard!  Click here to check out this month's current programs.

Historic Mill Tours

Visit Parker Mill County Park to see flour made the way it was done 100 years ago.  Learn about the Parker Family and see a one room log cabin near the banks of Fleming Creek.  The mill buildings are open to the public on Sundays from 1:00-4:00PM in September and October (and other times by appointment).

Discover the ingenuity of Henry Ford’s Village Industries during a tour of Sharon Mills County Park.  Enjoy a walk through the beautiful landscape gardens and fall views over the peaceful River Raisin Mill Pond.  Public Mill Tours are offered seasonally.  See the Calendar of Events for schedules.

Youth Programs

School Programs

School programs are available for all grade levels (including preschool) and focus on science, nature & history.  We welcome topic suggestions and are happy to work with educators to create custom programs.  Many of our programs have been designed to meet the Michigan Grade Level Content Expectations (GLECs), please contact us for more details.

Group Programs

Please contact our office to discuss group program opportunities and scheduling.  All group programs are dependent on staff availability. Donations are requested, but not required, for group programming—however, groups from outside Washtenaw County must pay a programming fee.
