Camp Big Heart was established in the summer of 1983. Many youth and young adults have enjoyed the program over the years and consider this program to be a wonderful contribution to the community.
Description of Program: Camp Big Heart is a week long day camp experience designed for 6 - 19 year old Washtenaw County youths who are educably, trainably and physically impaired. If space allows, young adults up to age 30 are welcome. The program includes crafts, nature projects, sports, music, drama, and special events. Campers swim at the Meri Lou Murray Recreation Center pool daily. On Friday, the last day of camp, we provide lunch, in the form of a summer cookout.
Staff Ratio: The ratio of campers to staff is four to one.
Eligibility for Services: 6 - 19 year old Washtenaw County youths who are educable, trainable, and physically impaired. *If space permits young adults to age 30 are welcome.
Fees: $6.00. T-shirt is provided for camper.
