Renting a Pavilion at Independence Lake

Pavilions are for use on a rental basis only. Pavilion Applications can be mailed upon request or downloaded.  Pavilions are rented on a first come first served basis, and can not be reserved without a completed application and payment of rental fees (cash or check only).

Rental applications are accepted on the first business day in October for the following year.  This process begins at 8:30 a.m. at the park office.  Applications are accepted at the Independence Lake office, as well as by mail.  A  copy of the application will be returned to you confirming your rental date.  If your requested date has already been reserved, we will call you immediately to find an alternative shelter or date.

Current pavilion fees can be found on the application form.   If you would like to rent a pavilion, please call the park office at 734-449-4437.

Some General Rules Regarding Pavilions:
  • During emergency weather conditions, the pavilions may be used as shelter for other patrons in the park.

  • Driving to the pavilions to load or unload is allowed within reason and with permission of the park manager.  There is no parking at the pavilions.

  • No pets are allowed at the pavilions.

  • Alcohol is ONLY allowed at the pavilion with special permit.

  • Parking space is not guaranteed with pavilion rental.

The Beach Center is located at the center of many park activities and seats 120 adults at provided picnic tables.  The beach center provides a marvelous view of the lake.  It is a short walk to the swimming area and spray zone.  It has a group size barbecue grill, electricity and is next to the first aid station and modern facilities.

Independence Woods is located at the western edge of the park.  It is in a very secluded and woody area with a great view of the lake and is very close to the spray zone and beach center.  It has a seating capacity of 90 and has a group size barbecue grill.  There is no electricity or running water.  

Meadows Edge is located east of the swimming area on a knoll within a woodlot with a great view of the lake.  There is a large children's playground next to the pavilion.  The seating capacity is 90 and there is a group size barbecue grill.  It is a short walk to the swimming area and spray zone.  There is no electricity or running water.

The Gamble Group Center  has its own private location within the park.  It has a seating capacity of 480 and is designed especially for larger groups such as companies and weddings.  It has private restrooms, electricity, running water, swimming beach, children's play structure, volleyball courts and large group sized barbecue grills.

The Meeting Room is ideal for small gatherings and birthday parties.  It can accommodate 35 - 40 people with table seating.  The room contains a large screen making it an appropriate site for presentations, meetings and office retreats.  The room is located with great views of the lake and surrounding wooded areas.
