Winter Hick, Potluck and Nature Sharing- Sunday, January 5th

10am-2pm. Take a short hike (optional) and then share food around the fireplace in our classroom.  If desired, share 10 to 15 of your favorite nature photos (on CD or flash drive).  Contact Faye with questions, (734)971-6337 ex 334.  This program will meet at the Beach Center.

Winter Night Walk- Just Past the Wolf- Friday, January 17th

7pm-9pm.  Look for winter stars and planets.  Listen for coyotes and other night animals.  Finish the walk around a fire and have a snack and hot drink.  This program will meet at the Beach Center.

10th Annual Ice Fishing Derby- Saturday, February 8th

7am-5pm. Registration begins at 7am. Join us for a fun-filled day of competition and prizes! Catch Northern Pike, Blue Gill, Bass and Crappie. Gift cards and other prizes for winners of the “Longest Northern Pike” & “Longest Pan fish”. Bring your own bait. No alcohol, ATV’s or snowmobiles. Call (734) 449-4437 for more information. Entry Fee: $10 for adults, $5 for kids 12 & under; fee includes lunch. Pre-registration available online or by registration form as of January 9th.  Independence Lake Park, meet at Beach Center. 2nd Annual Community Health and Safety Day- Saturday, June 7th

Independence Lake County Park is hosting a Community Health and Safety Day on Saturday, June 7th from 10:00a-12:00p.  We would like to invite all families to join us for a fun day while meeting local health and safety representatives in the community.  Activities are geared toward ages 5 through 11.  Come explore emergency vehicles, play games, and speak with trained professionals!  After participating in our event, we’ll treat you to a free day in our new spray play facility, Blue Heron Bay!  More information coming soon...

Pancakes at The Park; A Father's Day Event- Sunday, June 15th

Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation Commission presents “Pancakes at the Park; A Father’s Day Event”.  We would like to invite all families to honor that special father figure in their life and to enjoy a special day at Independence Lake.  After a provided pancake breakfast at 9:00a, families will explore our park on a guided nature hike with our park naturalist at 10:00a.  The fun doesn’t end there, because each participant will be invited to spend the remainder of the day at Blue Heron Bay, our new spray park, for free!  Pre-Registration required, spaces limited.  More information coming soon...

Family Camp Out- Friday, September 12th through Saturday, September 13th

Spend the night with your family at Independence Lake County Park!  Tent set up is from 2pm-6pm on Friday, September 12th.  Activities will be offered, including games, hikes, and a campfire.  Stay for a pancake breakfast in the morning from 7am-9am ($1 extra per person).  All tents must be taken down by 10am on Saturday, September 13th.  Children must be accompanied by an adult to attend.  Pre-registration required.  Please fill out our registration form and return it by fax (734-449-8507) or in person to our park office.  Cost is $7/person.

Park It and Run! 5K Run/ Walk and 1 Mile Kids' Run/Walk- Saturday, October 4th

Come support your local county parks by registering for the Park It and Run! 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Kids’ Run/Walk!  The 5K and 1 mile courses are perfect for the beginner, intermediate, and advanced runner/walker!  The course is set in beautiful Independence Lake County Park.  Registration starts March 1st and runs through October 4th.  Special early bird registration prices for those who register by September 13th.  Visit www.parkitandrun.weebly.com for more information.
