Snowshoe Clinic (Sunday, January 21st, 2018, 1:00pm to 3:00pm) 

WCPARC is partnering with REI for this great opportunity to learn about snowshoes and to try them out!  REI snowshoe specialists will be onsite to educate about the equipment, followed by a snowshoe hike led by park naturalists.  REI will have a limited pairs of snowshoes to lend, so preregister at parksonline.ewashtenaw.org to reserve your space today! This program is FREE, but vehicle entrance fee is required. Winter Fireside Story Time (Saturday, February 3rd, 2018, 10:00am to 2:00pm)

Winter at Independence Lake Park just got cozier!  Relish quality family time next to our indoor fireplace with winter books and refreshments.  Choose a story to read with your family from the variety of children books that will be provided, or enjoy listening to the story of the hour.  This program is recommended for children (ages 3 to 8) accompanied by an adult.  Please preregister at parksonline.ewashtenaw.org. This program is FREE, but vehicle entrance fee is required. Ice Fishing Derby (Saturday, February 10th, 2018, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Join us for a fun-filled day of competition and prizes! Catch Northern Pike, Blue Gill, and Crappie. Gift cards and other prizes for winners of the “Longest Northern Pike” & “Longest Pan fish”. Bring your own bait. No alcohol, ATV’s or snowmobiles.  Cost is as follows: Pre-registration- $10 for adults, $5 for kids 12 and under, Event Day Registration- $15 for adults, $10 for kids 12 and under. Registration fee includes lunch. Registration can be found online, parksonline.ewashtenaw.org. Email ellensl@ewashtenaw.org for more details.

Family Campout Flyer 2017Red Hawk Glow Disc Golf Tournament (Saturday,November 4th, 5pm - 10pm)

Join us for the 2nd Annual Red Hawk Glow Disc Golf Tournament on Saturday, November 4th.  This is the only after-hours disc golf tournament hosted at Independence Lake Park each year.  Red Hawk’s newly added 12 holes will be featured in this 24 hole disc golf tournament lit by glow sticks.  Registration includes vehicle entry to Independence Lake Park, reusable scorecard and exclusive disc golf towel and mini glow disc branded with the new Red Hawk course logo. The top 20% of players for each division will receive awarded payouts in disc golf discs.  Register at discgolfscene.com. $30 per person cash only on day of event.  Contact Julie at pahlj@ewashtenaw.org for more details.
