Greenway Update

— filed under:

The EMU portion of the B2B trail (from Hewitt to Cornell) will be closed for reconstruction from the late afternoon of Wednesday, July 9, until the end of July.  The contractor will be placing barriers and tape onsite to prevent entry to the work area.

WCPARC has made a serious commitment to expand hike and bike trails in Washtenaw County.  Over a 10 year period, which began in 2000, a minimum of $10 million will be dedicated to trails development.

WCPARC Trails Update    June 2007

1.   Border to Border trail

The Border to Border (B2B) trail is a multiagency, collaborative project to construct a multiuse trail traversing Washtenaw County, from Livingston County to Wayne County, along the Huron River.  When completed, the 35 mile trail will permit non-motorized travel through the linked open spaces encompassing Washtenaw County's most distinctive natural feature - The Huron River Corridor.  The B2B Trail will enhance the livability of the county's main urbanized area where approximately 70% of its residents live in river-linked communities.  In July 2005, the Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation Commission received an Award of Distinction for Innovation in Public Involvement, Long Range Planning, Land Use and Transportation, and Non-Motorized Transportation for the Border to Border Trail, from the Michigan Transportation Planning Association.

For implementation purposes, the B2B trail is being developed in 13 segments from Segment A in the northwest (Livingston Co. border) to Segment M in the southeast (Wayne Co. border).  Currently, work is in progress on the following trail segments listed in order of initiation.
