Parks Master Plan

— filed under:

The Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation Commission (WCPARC) 2015-2019 Parks and Recreation Master Plan serves to guide the decision making for the next five years in the development and enhancement of park and recreation facilities, and enables the Parks Commission to pursue grant funding for projects.

Through the master planning process, Parks staff sought public input and feedback to determine if our facilities are still appropriate, relevant, and in good condition. The planning process consisted of a comprehensive evaluation of all existing park facilities; accessibility; programming needs; maintenance; deficiencies compared to needs and trends; revenues and expenditures; and geographic proximity to users.  Input was collected from various sources including: the general public, park staff, stakeholders, and other entities that have a vested interest in the County park system.

The priorities list is not exhaustive and will continue to evolve based on the community’s needs.  This list includes the demand for new recreation amenities and programming, as well as the need to maintain and improve existing facilities.

WCPARC looks forward to working together to ensure the parks and recreation system continues to enhance the lives of Washtenaw County residents.
