Pets in the Parks

Horses are prohibited in WCPARC Parks.

Designated On-Leash Dog Areas Within Washtenaw County Parks:

Beginning September 2, 2003, the Commission approved a two-year trial period for controlled dog access within three County parks.  The program is an effort to afford reasonable park access by persons with dogs while still precluding dogs from parks, parts of parks, or park activities and areas where dogs are not compatible.  During this period the Commission will monitor the number and type of complaints, police calls, and other aspects related to the policy.

Dog owner failure to abide by the policy and regulations of the program could lead to discontinuation of the program after the trial period.

  • All Dogs must be on a 6' leash.

  • Dogs must be licensed, vaccinated and wearing a collar with identification at all times.
  • Owners assume full responsibility for their dogs.
  • Failure to comply with posted rules may result in expulsion, citation, or fine.
