Celebrating Excellence: Honoring NLS Narrator Bob Askey and His Work

Bob AskeyNational Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped Narrator, Bob Asker, won the Alexander Scourby Narrator of the Year Award in June 2002, making him the only narrator to win the award twice! He has recorded over 800 books for the NLS program on a wide variety of subjects, including fiction, nonfiction, children's literature, mysteries and biographies.

On Wednesday, May 7, 2003, the Washtenaw County LBPD and the Michigan Commission for the Blind celebrated Bob's career. As part of this celebration, Bob read selections from three NLS recorded titles: Ava's Man by Rick Bragg (RC 53019); Life Is Good by George Dawson (RC 51912); and The Tie That Binds by Ken Haruf (RC 52113).
