Bi-Folkal Kits

Bi-Folkal Kits and Mini-Kits are available for loan to institutions registered for service through the Washtenaw County Library for the Blind and Physically Disabled.  

  • Materials may be borrowed for up to one month.
  • Materials cannot be mailed; however, if borrowers cannot come into the Library, arrangements can be made to send requested kits to other public libraries in Washtenaw County for consumer pick-up.

Bi-Folkal Kits provide captivating, informing and stimulating activities for older adults.   Focusing on reminiscence, remember and reflecting, the kits can be used with any group of older adults or mixed-aged groups.   Each kit is designed to unlock remarkable stories, humorous anecdotes, and first-person accounts of history, experience and life.

Remembering African American Lives (BFK-50001)
An African American schoolteacher introduces a variety of provocative discussion topics.

Remembering Automobiles ( BFK-5002 )
Remember first cars, favorite cars, perhaps even a fender-bender and rekindle everyone’s love affair with the automobile.

Remembering Birthdays (BFK-50003)
Offers a wide variety of ideas for discussion, celebration, and fun on everyone’s special day.   Use this kit with intergenerational groups and families to promote understanding of what aging is all about.

Remembering County Fairs (BFK-50004)

MINI-KITS

Mini-Kits prompt the same remembering as complete Bi-Folkal kits, but they’re designed for shorter program series on a smaller budget.   All Mini-Kits include a slide presentation.   Some kits include a leader’s guide, ideas for low-or-no cost activities and/or an audiotape.
