TITLE: Park Laborer Aide - Landscaping

GRADE: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of a higher classified employee, performs a variety of landscape garden and ground care tasks related to outdoor seasonal plant care. Aide must be able to complete necessary tasks relating to general landscape maintenance and specific care for trees, shrubs, vines and herbaceous plants in County Parks to ensure optimum growth and visual display of plant materials in appropriate environments. Also, operates and maintains various pieces of equipment to perform necessary tasks. Reports to Park Horticulturist or full-time supervisory personnel.

EDUCATION: Work requires a level of knowledge normally attained with high school education. Additional knowledge of general plant care, gardening, landscaping, or other related fields is desirable (Master Gardener or such relative coursework a bonus!)

EXPERIENCE: Gardening, landscaping and/or grounds keeping experience is highly recommended. In addition, experiences with gardening, plant care and plant knowledge will be highly regarded.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License. Interest in Horticulture, Gardens, Landscapes, Natural Features and Plants. Must enjoy working outdoors in variable weather. Must exhibit drive and ability to be self-motivating. MIOSHA safety boots are required.
