Foster Care Program

82 Washtenaw County Children were placed into foster care in 2005 due to abuse and/or neglect. The mission of our foster care program is to provide services and support in order to reunite families, strengthen them and assist them in achieving independence while providing a safe and nurturing environment for their children.

Within our Family to Family approach to foster care, foster parents are active members of the team working with and supporting the family in their reunification efforts.  Foster parents serve children by providing a protective environment, securing medical and dental care, and garnering educational support. They support children in therapy, transport and assist with family visits and provide information regarding the children’s needs.

These children require foster families committed to helping them achieve permanency within the children’s family, or when that is not possible, through adoption.
