Volunteer Services Program

Mission:

We creatively connect unique and flexible services to our customers, our agency and out community.

Vision:

"We can do that! Bridging resources together for a stronger community."

The Volunteer Services Program of the Washtenaw County Family Independence Agency (FIA) provides supportive services to agency customers who have been assessed as having some unmet needs. Volunteer Services recruit, train and assign volunteers who implement such programs as friendly visitor, budget management assistance, youth companions, general office aides, transporters, information and referral services. Volunteer Services also collaborates with other community agencies to develop resources that will strengthen families and lead them to further independence.

Volunteer Services has some special projects developed through community outreach which include Thanksgiving Baskets Program, Community Giving Program (holiday gift), Back to School Clothing Program and a furniture donation program. Donations are accepted, both monetary and material (can food, furniture, books, and other items) by the FIA management team. The County Director involves the Volunteer Services Supervisor in special projects and on occasion may request the Supervisor to represent the agency on boards and committees.
