A Guidebook for Rural Living is a publication by Washtenaw County Extension, with help from Extension Advisory Council members, Extension and County staff, and other volunteers. It was prepared with the new rural resident in mind.

Buying property, maintaining a home, and daily life in rural areas all need skills and knowledge unfamiliar to urban residents. The guidebook contains information about local governments and services, legal and practical requirements for building and maintaining a rural residence, emergency management, customs, and hints on good land management.

It is also a directory for Washtenaw County departments, MSU Extension and other resources for rural living.
