Nutrition and Physical Activity Education Programs

MSU Extension educators are available to provide nutrition programs for community groups, pre-K to older adults. Most programs are free of charge to qualifying youth and adults. Contact the MSU Extension office for more information on scheduling a class for your group or to find an upcoming class to attend please call (734)997-1MSU.   • Topics included are:
    Basic knowledge of five food groups
    Balancing calories eaten and calories used through physical activity
    Food Safety
    Budgeting, menu planning
    Food demonstrations may range from food tastings to hands-on preparation
    Programing uses MYPlate and USDA nutritional standards

Cooking Matters for Adults

This six week seriers is taught by a volunteer chef and nutrition educator and covers meal preparation, grocery shopping, food budgeting and butrition. Participants take home a bag of groceries at the end of each class.
