Family & Consumer Science Programs



Information and educational programs are offered on:

  • Budgeting 101 Class
  • Human development - basic information on the development of children, youth and adults, and healthy family traits.
  • Parenting and Financial Education Information- for the available classes, current time, dates, fees, and locations.  If you would like to be notified when the new schedule is ready, call Terry Jones at 734/222-3943, or email your information for notification.  Some of the classes that are offered are:
    • How to Talk So Kids Will Listen (all ages)
    • Siblings Without Rivalry (all ages)
    • Building Strong Adolescents (parents & youth 9 to 17)
    • Relax (Alternativ to Anger for all ages)
    • Parenting On Your Own (single parents)
    • Smart Steps - parenting for future or current blended families
  • Financial Management- individual counseling on basic budgeting skills and Money 2000.
  • Consumer education - answer questions on cleaning and stain removal, purchasing of home equipment, energy conservation and basic consumer rights.
  • Better Kid Care– professional development and training classes for new and experienced child care providers and relative care providers.
  • Mother to Mother Program Breastfeeding education and support.
