Eligibility

Youth Eligibility

ETCS is excited about this new commitment of federal funds to SYEP - a valuable program intended to prepare our young people for real-world work expectations, career instruction, financial literacy, academic improvement and social growth.

To be eligible to participate in the SYEP, young people must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Be not less than age 14 and not more than age 24, and
  • Be a low-income individual, or is a member of a low-income family. To be considered low income, the Lower Living Standard Income Level (LLSIL) Guidelines stated below will be used. Youth with a documented disability (including learning disability) can be classified as a "family of one", meaning that only their own income, rather than their family income, will be considered in determining whether they meet the low-income guideline*.
