Project Overview

Over the next few months, the Workforce Development Board will be preparing a 5-year Business Plan for Workforce Development that will guide the Board and Michigan Works! in strategically investing workforce development funding and services to accelerate job growth and job placement in growth sectors of the regional economy.

Project Outputs

Identification of which clusters of occupations provide the best opportunities for workforce development investment.
Identification of the labor, skills and workforce development business services needs for thigh growth clusters. This includes the identification of the talent pipeline (the knowledge, skills and abilities of the regional workforce) that will help drive the regional economy.
Identification of ways workforce development, education and business acceleration services can better work together to grow jobs in these occupations. This includes program and service collaborations with business, education and workforce development service providers.
Development of a 5-year Business Plan for workforce development including actions for training, business services, alignment of workforce and business acceleration services, metrics and program budgets.
