Weatherization ARRA
As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act our Weatherization office received an additional $4.2 million to weatherize 600 homes in Washtenaw County over the next three years. Weatherization received more Recovery Act funding than any other program in Washtenaw County.
We have been accepting applications at a record pace. In fact, we approved 264 homes for weatherization last year--nearly three times as many compared to 2008. The local press, including WEMU, the Ann Arbor Chronicle, the Michigan Daily, and the Ann Arbor News have been very helpful in spreading the word about this wonderful opportunity for families in Washtenaw County to save money in these difficult economic times.
Please bookmark this page and return often for updates on how many homes are being weatherized and how many jobs are being created and retained with the Recovery Act funding.
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding, available to the weatherization program through March 2012, will allow the county to weatherize 600+ homes. In addition, ARRA funds have enabled the county to either create or retain 12 jobs and permitted 21 contractors and their crews to work on the program. As of March 2010, the program has completed or has in process more than 100 weatherization projects.
