Washtenaw County etcs is a unique government department that recognizes that community action and workforce development are essential to economic development.
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)
Thanks to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, Washtenaw County will receive funds to support a number of programs and special projects, including the 2009 Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). To date, ETCS has recieved more than $7.9 million for economic recovery efforts in Washtenaw County. Find out more about how this money is impacting our community.
Summer Youth Employment Program
The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) provides Washtenaw County youth between the ages of 14 and 24 who meet eligibility requirements with summer employment opportunities where they can earn and learn. Participants can work in a wide variety of venues, such as government agencies, hospitals, nonprofits, businesses, museums, and sports enterprises. Find out more about the SYEP and who qualifies.
Looking for a Job
Are you looking for a new job? Do you want to change careers or get additional education? Have you lost your job or are you just looking? The etcs Michigan Works! Service Center and on-line resources can help. Assistance can include financial assistance to pay for education and training. Corporate ServicesIs your company looking for a new employee or adding a number of new positions? The etcs Michigan Works Center helps employers find qualified workers, learn about customized training programs as well as opportunities for receiving training incentives. In conjunction with Ann Arbor SPARK, a Talent Recruitment Director assists high-tech companies locate specialized employees. Community Actionetcs, as the Community Action Agency for Washtenaw County, provides services designed to help people to help themselves in achieving self-sufficiency. These programs address a wide range of needs - including weatherization assistance, senior nutrition, senior volunteer opportunities, utility, food and other emergency assistance. Youth Employment ProgramsPrograms to assist youth – ages 14-21 are available through etcs. This includes everything from learning the basics about finding a first job to assisting with completion of high school equivalency.
