Washtenaw County Home Toxics Collection Center

April - November: First 3 Saturdays of each month*, 9am - noon

This is a first come, first serve, drive-up and drop-off program.

For your safety and ours, please wait in line, in your car until we have finished helping and clearing the vehicle in front of you [you may exit the vehicle during the unloading process].  Please be aware that at times this is a high traffic area with dangerous toxics; we try to minimize accidents by servicing one car at a time.  Please also be aware that all cigarettes and flames should be extinguished prior to attending a collection.

[Don't forget to check the calendar, we are always closed on the 4th and 5th Saturday's!!]

*If you are unable to attend a Saturday collection please call 734.222.6874 to make an appointment during the week, Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm. Please see below [i.e. By Appointment ONLY]

December - March:  By Appointment ONLY

Please call the Home Toxics Line at 734.222.6874 and leave a message if no one is available to take your call.  Please be sure to leave your name and number and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.  You may call and leave a message at any point 24 hours a day, however employees are generally in Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm depending on schedules.  Once we get in touch with you we can set an appointment.  We try to be as flexible as possible and ask for a 2 day notice, however this does not mean that we wont be able to get you an appointment sooner, or even that day.  Please be aware that you need to check in at the front desk upon arrival unless other arrangements are made.

Showing up during the week without an appointment will not guarantee an employee will be present to help you, please call ahead so we can be there to help you!
REMINDER: NEVER drop-off toxics without a County employee to assist you.  Leaving toxics outside the collection area fence or anywhere in the parking lot is STRICTLY PROHIBITED as it has potential for adverse environmental effects and health risks.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

Eligibility & Cost

The Home Toxics Collection Program is open to ALL Washtenaw County Residents and is not intended for businesses and/or organizations.  However, if you need information or help finding disposal options please contact us or visit our Business Recycling page.  The collection program is a FREE service for residents.  We do accept donations, which go directly to the cost of disposal.  Each year the donations collected are responsible for approximately 10% of the total disposal costs.

The Home Toxics Reduction Center is located at the Western Washtenaw County Service Center, at 705 N. Zeeb Rd. (just north of Exit 169 on I-94).  Access directions here.  The Center is a white shed surrounded by a green chain-link fence, on the south side of the parking lot behind the Service Center Building. (Map) Once you arrive for a Saturday collection, please follow the signs that will lead to the collection shed.  If you arrive during the week for a scheduled appointment, please first come to the front desk (leave your toxics in your car) to confirm your arrival.
