Clean Sweep Program - Pesticide Disposal
The Michigan Clean Sweep Program makes it easy to get rid of unused, unwanted pesticides and mercury. We will dispose of the items FREE of charge for any Michigan resident or business and do so in an environmentally safe manner. APPOINTMENTS ARE REQUIRED. Please read below for more information.
The Michigan Clean Sweep Program helps protect the state's natural resources and prevent agriculture pollution by ensuring the safe and proper disposal of outdated, unused or unwanted pesticides in Michigan.
The program is run through the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD). MDARD establishes Clean Sweep sites throughout the state, including one in Washtenaw County. Since 1996, more than 2.2 million pounds (1100 tons) of pesticides have been removed from circulation and properly disposed of via permanent collection sites.
Listen to Abby Eaton from the MDARD discuss the Clean Sweep Program on 89.1 FM WEMU. Visit the Michigan Clean Sweep Program main website for additional information.
