About the Program

Perfect for agribusinesses, greenhouses, nurseries, and golf courses with expired pesticide product.

The Michigan Clean Sweep  Program helps protect the state's natural resources and prevent agriculture pollution by ensuring the safe and proper disposal of outdated, unused or unwanted pesticides in Michigan.

The program is run through the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD).  MDARD establishes Clean Sweep sites throughout the state, including one in Washtenaw County.  Since 1996, more than 2.2 million pounds (1100 tons) of pesticides have been removed from circulation and properly disposed of via permanent collection sites.

Listen to Abby Eaton from the MDARD discuss the Clean Sweep Program on 89.1 FM WEMU.   Visit the Michigan Clean Sweep Program main website for additional information.

Appointments for disposal can be scheduled Monday - Friday, 9 am - 5 pm or Saturday around 12 pm.  All pesticides must be cataloged prior to disposal.  If you are a business and have a large number of products, it is suggested that you fill out this form in order to expedite drop-off procedures.

Collection Site Location

The drop-offs occur at the Home Toxics Reduction Center which is located at the Western Washtenaw County Service Center, at 705 N. Zeeb Road (just north of Exit 169 on I-94).  You can access directions here.  Once you arrive at the building, please check in at the front desk.  You will then follow the driveway past the building to the back left of the parking lot (south side).  The Center is a white shed surrounded by a green chain-link fence (Map).
