Sustainable Business Practices

Webers Inn is a full service hotel, restaurant and banquet facility located in Ann Arbor. Webers Inn is the first Green Hotel in Ann Arbor. Through their involvement with the Green Hotel Association, a number of energy and water efficiency programs have been implemented. Efficient T8 fluorescent fixtures have replaced less efficient T12 fixtures in employee areas and efficient fluorescent or energy saver incandescent bulbs have replaced standard incandescent bulbs in guest areas. Lights off reminders are placed in guest rooms and housekeeping staff is trained to reset the HVAC systems in rooms to moderate levels. Water saver showerheads and water saver toilets were installed and one heat exchanger at the facility is water-cooled with non-potable well water which is reused after cooling to water the Inns lawn. Their recycling program includes deposit bottles and cans, glass, paper and cardboard boxes. A number of other products are all purchased using recycled content materials to help close the recycling loop. An in-room linen and towel reuse program are also conducted at Webers. Guests staying more than one night may choose to reuse bed linens and towels. All guest rooms are equipped with a recycling bag and an informational card explaining to guests what items can be recycled from their rooms. Webers Inn received an honorable mention in the Environmental Excellence Awards from the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners in September 2003.
