Sustainable Business Practices

Village Cooperative is a residential housing association comprised of over 1000 individuals that participate in a weekly recycling program. Within the housing office, the Cooperative utilizes their website as an electronic brochure to reduce their need for paper. A variety of items are recycled from the complex and management purchases many items such as paper, file folders, garbage bags, compost, and hand towels containing recycled content materials. The office brings the message to its residents with monthly reminders of their recycling program in a monthly newsletter. A weekly pest management system has been put in place to reduce the need for extermination, which involves highly toxic materials. In addition, Village Cooperative Homes has purchased a programmable thermostat and longer lasting light bulbs to help reduce the amount of energy used on site.
