Since 1980, Shaman Drum has happily served the Ann Arbor community, offering a wide selection of literature, poetry, children's books and graphic novels for the discerning reader. The bookshop continues to offer the widest selection of academic and scholarly titles in Michigan.

Sustainable Business Practices

Shaman Drum has made recycling and environmental consciousness part of the store ethic since it was founded 28 years ago. In addition to purchasing recycled furniture and computer parts, implementing paperless processes, using energy efficient bulbs throughout the store, all forms of recycling, and offering free public transport for employees, we are a leader in book recycling via our humanitarian donation efforts to organizations near and far. Some beneficiary organizations include: AA College Womens book fair, Prison Programs, Lakota Indian Reservation Libraries, and Angola Libraries. All outgoing packages are packed using reused cardboard boxes.
