Sustainable Practices

The Waste Knot Program is proud to continue its relationship with the Chelsea District Library! The library is currently located in downtown Chelsea, but it also serves Sylvan, Lynden, Dexter and Lima townships. The Chelsea District Library is committed to the enrichment of the community in both education and the environment. They reduce their waste by printing double-sided and reusing envelopes, boxes, packing material, utensils, and paper. They also recycle cans and mixed paper. The Chelsea District Library completes the recycling loop by buying recycled content copier paper and envelopes. They ensure that all new and old employees are participating in their recycling program by designating one person to oversee waste reduction and introducing new employees to procedures.
