Sustainable Business Practices

With eight employees, Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley specializes in the recycling of gently used building materials, paint, furniture, appliances and tools via a ReStore approach. Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley has also placed all external light on timers and employees perform routine preventative maintenance on all major appliances received to ensure energy efficiency. With a new 15,000 sq. ft. ReStore facility, significant amounts of scrap metal, wood and other waste streams are collected for recycling and diverted from landfill disposal. Funds that are created are used to build more affordable housing throughout Washtenaw County. Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valleys primary goal is to reduce and recycle resources and divert materials from landfill.
