Recently, Borders opened its first new concept store nationwide in Ann Arbor, which represents a real breakthrough in retail. Sustainable Business Practices

In 2007 Borders formed its first Environmental Action Committee, a group that consists of dedicated employees who strive to conduct business in a way that protects the Earth and conserves resources. Some of the committees first-year achievements included launching a recycling program for containers, paper, batteries, and cardboard. In addition, the committee benchmarked our companys carbon footprint to see where improvements are needed and held special events to raise awareness among employees regarding environmental issues.  The Environmental Action Committee also publishes a weekly eco-tip in Borders companys email newsletter, and hosts a book club that meets quarterly to read and discuss books relating to environmental issues.
