organic tea gardens to customers throughout the United States.
Sustainable Practices
Arbor Teas has taken a comprehensive approach
to minimizing its environmental footprint. Here is just a sampling of
the environmental considerations built into Arbor Teas' operations:
- Our entire catalog of teas is certified organic under the USDA
National Organic Program.
- We've replaced our former tin-plated steel canisters (an old
stand-by in the tea industry) with canisters made of parchment-lined
paperboard, which generate less than one-fifth of the carbon emissions
of tin-plated steel canisters.
- By participating in DTE Energys GreenCurrents program, we promote
the generation of energy from renewable sources, preventing
approximately 10,000 pounds of carbon from being released into the
atmosphere each year.
- For those carbon emissions that we just cant avoid (yet), weve
teamed-up with CarbonFund.org to offset them by promoting the
development of green energy, energy efficiency and reforestation.
- We aggressively recycle our solid waste, reusing office supplies
and packaging materials wherever possible.
- In addition to recycling boxes for shipping our orders, we also
reclaim packing materials from local businesses and the local materials
recovery facility for use in shipping orders.
- We take a green approach to printing, which means we keep our
printing minimal, use post-consumer recycled paper, and use low VOC
soy- and/or water-based inks whenever possible.
- Although all of our shipping (both to and from our facility) has
been carbon offset through CarbonFund.org, our customers can elect to
have their orders shipped via USPS Parcel Post, which doesnt rely on
air transportation (except to Alaska and Hawaii). Air transit generates
far greater greenhouse gas emissions than ground transportation.
