Business Overview

Zingerman's Delicatessen is fast becoming America's best-known deli. Opened in March of 1982 by Paul Saginaw and Ari Weinzweig in an historic building near the Ann Arbor Farmers' Market, the Deli got its start with a small selection of great-tasting specialty foods, a host of traditional Jewish dishes and a relatively short sandwich menu.

Today, Zingerman's Delicatessen is an Ann Arbor institution, the source of great food and great experiences for thousands of visitors every year.

The Deli serves up thousands of made-to-order sandwiches with ingredients like premium Black Angus corned beef and pastrami, free-range chicken and turkey, housemade chopped liver and chicken salad. The Deli also stocks an exceptional array of farmhouse cheeses, estate-bottled olive oils, varietal vinegars, smoked fish, salami, coffee, tea and much, much more.

Sustainable Business Practices

Zingerman's was one of the first business to recycle downtown - this practice has been expanded to include paper, cans, glass, cardboard, scrap metal, cooking oil, fluorescent light bulbs and 5 gallon buckets! After years of supporting A2's composting pilot, we are please to be participating in Ann Arbor's newly adopted commercial composting program year-round. Also new this year is our inventory of green cleaning products!  We continue to have a work group called Planet Zingerman's, where we meet with a mission to pursue and promote sustainable practices at work.

"We have a strategy for growth that is about the long-term economic health of our Community of Businesses and our local economy. When we talk about 'great service,' we refer not only to our customers, our community and each other, but also to our planet; we push ourselves to go beyond basic compliance on environmental issues."
