At the Little Lake Learning Community, children ages 5-15 freely explore interests, engage and take ownership in meaningful real world activities and participate in a democratic community. Children are empowered to be self directed, socially-conscious lifelong learners. Adults provide guidance, mentoring and, the perspective of experience and love to nurture children on their journey.
Sustainable Business Practices
Little Lake Learning Community uses many sustainable practices including:
-using reusable plates, cups and utensils every day for school lunches
-students and staff composting all food waste and using in food garden
-using fabric napkins and hand towels
-using minimal lights during the day
-utilizing an automatic thermostat that is set at a lower temperature in evenings
-reusing paper, fabric and other materials
-asking for donated items rather than buying anything new
-sharing space with a church rather than using a single purposed space
-educating students about sustainable environmental practices
-volunteering at Food Gatherers once week
