Growing Hope is a nonprofit organization in Ypsilanti. We are working to help people improve their lives and communities through gardening and increasing access to healthy food. For ten years our work has empowered people to grow, eat, share and sell their healthy food in ways that positively impact their health and their neighborhoods. While we support people throughout our community and region, we are most passionate about working with low-income families who have difficulty accessing the tools and resources to grow and consume healthy produce.
Sustainable Business Practices
Recycling and waste reduction are core values at Growing Hope and a mandatory part of their operations they recycle, reuse, or compost everything possible. Growing Hope takes pride in reusing objects others have discarded in creative ways in their organic community and school gardens. As organic gardeners, they never use chemicals in the garden or at home and teach others how to do the same. When Growing Hope runs programs they seek to use reusable materials (washable plates and cutlery and tablecloths, for instance) and make their events as waste-free as possible. They not only incorporate these practices into their own operations, but also teach others through educational materials and classes.
