Sustainable Business Practices

The Waste Knot Program is proud to recognize the Ecology Center for its environmentally conscious efforts. They are a non-profit organization working to support clean air, safe water, healthy communities and environmental justice through advocacy, education and demonstration projects. Their mission is environmental in nature and they practice what they preach in their office as well. Many activities, such as double-sided printing, email and web-based documents are used to reduce paper usage. The Ecology Center purchases copier paper, envelopes, toilet paper, file folders and hand towels with recycled content and used items from Recycle Ann Arbors ReUse Center. Their efforts are also energy conscious through their use of fluorescent light bulbs and by enabling ENERGY STAR features on office equipment. Finally, they share an office vehicle or people walk to work to decrease gasoline consumption. Whether they are educating others, caring for the environment, promoting green alternatives in Ann Arbor or sharing resources within their own offices, the Ecology Center is working hard to reduce waste.
